The irrepressible Pilooski live in the mix va Eamon Harkin’s web spot.
“It’s been a very busy summer but now with Sunday Best and The Beach Party in full flight there’s a little breathing room in an otherwise hectic schedule to launch websites, release records and get through the general back log.
More to come on all of that in time but for now I’m happy to finally post a gem of a mix from Pilooski recorded live at the Mister Saturday Night loft/warehouse party from last month. No track list on this one but I can say its a treasure trove of edits from all the top players in the game. Just what you’d expect from the Parisian master. Here you go…”

From Mae West to Amon Duul – this mix from Bristol resident Pencilface has it all and then some. It’s funk Jim, but not as we know it.
“I’m an illustrator based in Bristol, UK. Have done illustration stuff for Spunky clothing, Wax Poetics, Lodown magazine, Ramp Recordings and Scribble clothing amongst others. i also made these here budget beats using a cheap sampler and a bunch of old records. balls to a computer!!! This mix contains lots of oddball funky bits, some surf and a few breaks in the first half – - – then onto some glam, psych, space, and heavy rock in the second half.” – Pencilface

The institution that is Brownswood Recordings, the London-based indie label created by globe trotting purveyor of all sounds soulful and inspired, Gilles Peterson, opened it’s doors in 2006 with the simple aim of releasing good new music, music with soul – no matter where it’s from or what the style.
And what a journey it’s been since then. Gilles is still flying around, dropping unexpected dancefloor gems on party people around the world. And his Worldwide show on BBC Radio 1 is still a weekly staple for music heads tuning in for anything from vintage folk to dubstep. Meanwhile Brownswood has released a stream of new music.
“To celebrate the release of Brownswood Bubblers 4 on the 24th of August 2009, Brownswood have put together a special ‘Best Of Bubblers Mixtape‘ featuring a selection of some of their favourite tracks from all four Bubblers compilations. If your new to the Bubblers series, then this will give you a taste of what they are all about. If your a seasoned Bubbler then this mix is sure to press all the right buttons.”

Another great BBC Essential set. Good to see Diplo back on point with some choice reggae cuts. Major Lazer hasn’t crossed my radar before, but he seems to be laying down some trendy shit the kids all dig. Very groovy.
