Headtripper extrordinaire, Mr. Andy Votel has made an exclusive mix for Dublab! Thanks to Neut for passing this on.
“Andy Votel of the flawless Finders Keepers kingdom is a purveyor of all things far out. His record collection is something akin to the Ark of the Covenant. Listen to it and your mind will surely melt. Call us masochists but we enjoy this mind melting sensation immensely. It sheds us of the unnecessary hyperactive awareness that buzzes through our brainwaves. Andy came back into dublab to help relieve us of the known world and make our souls one with the universal psychedelic spirit.” – Dublab

I grew up listening to CSNY. Many younger readers may regard this as hippy bullshit, but in all reality, it’s soul music pure and simple. Plus David crosby is a genius singer that you should all check out at least once in your life. here’s a bootlegged gig that shows off the sweet harmonies of these American icons.
“Excellent live show recorded Dec. 14, 1974 by ace producer and engineer, Wally Heider, edited as a live album that would never come out. Fantastic sound @192, the way I first got it. Also known as the Whale & Fieldworkers Benefit 1974 concert. There are a number of highlights, including Crosby’s new (at the time) “Carry Me” and a slow, tortured reading of “Wooden Ships.” These ears were most pleased to hear the fresh takes of Crosby’s newest songs and the retirement of almost all of Nash’s already-dated-by-1974 political material.” – via Mog blog

It’s catch up time for my own series of compilations, Another Angle. Being off for two weeks did slow me down, but I’m back babaaay…So here’s not one, but two new downloads to keep you going during what is a miserably wet weekend here in Sydney. Hopefully wherever you dwell, the sun is shining and you’re having a glorious day.

They don’t call him the King for nuthin’…check out this stellar selection from Megatrip and his bro. As usual, it contains everything but the kitchen sink, mixed/cut/pasted and spat out with the greatest of skill. Be sure to grab this – you’ll love it.
“so here’s a new mix I put together – my brother did the selections – I welded them together… the vandal savage infommercials by Jonathan Hanst…” – King Megatrip
the dirt dog says: “What started out as fun turned in to an internet phenomenon (almost). I was attempting to supply King Megatrip with one track a week for an entire year. It might be hip-hop, it might be rock, it might be new, it might be old. It was basically whatever I was listening to at the moment that I enjoyed. But it had to be something that moved me enough to want to share it. Along the way I kept inviting friends to join my e-mail list, and some of those friends invited their friends. This mix by the King contains 44 of the 52 tracks from 2008.”

London-based Paul White is set to release his debut album, The Strange Dreams of Paul White, One-Handed Music next month.
It’s a kaleidoscopic, unpredictable record which is rooted in hip-hop but has rather more cosmic ambitions than that, playing homage to prog, psychedelia and idiosyncratic library music. White is one of the UK’s most hyped young producers right now, with a string of 7″s for One-Handed getting tastemakers like Mary Anne Hobbs and Benji B very excited; and while he’s undeniably part of the post-Flying Lotus instrumental hip-hop renaissance, his music stands alone, and speaks for itself.
To herald it’s arrival of The Strange Dreams of Paul White, Paul has kindly put together an exclusive FACT Mix, one which is one of our favourites to date, and certainly the most eccentric (check out the tracklisting below). It features tracks by Todd Rundgren, Eek-A-Mouse, Zodiac and umpteen new and previously unreleased productions by White himself. It’s perfectly dreamy, surreal and sensuous music for these unusually sunny days, so dig in.
Ian Lloyd & Stories – Hard When You’re So Far Away – Kama Sutra
The Cecil Holmes Orchestra – Pillow Talk – Accord
Rhinoceros – Apricot Brandy – Elektra
Kapt. Kopter And The (Fabulous) Twirly Birds – Things Yet To Come – Epic
